Description

16" (40 cm). Bisque swivel head with rounded facial modeling and plump throat on kid-edged original bisque shoulderplate, painted facial features, heavily lidded eyes with thick black upper eyeliner, painted lashes, blue shaded eyes with large black pupils and enhancing glaze to appear as glass, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips, double chin with blushing, unpierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, original gutta percha body based upon the deposed model of Huret, with jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, separated fingers. Condition; generally excellent, body very sturdy. Marks: (Huret body stamp on torso). Comments: Adelaide Huret, circa 1860. Value Points: desirable early model poupee by Huret with swivel head, glaze-decorated eyes, original body, wearing antique lavender gown with blouse, undergarments, unsigned Huret shoes, bonnet. The poupee appears in The Encyclopedia of French Dolls, Volume I, page 283.
