14" (35 cm). Solid domed paper mache shoulder head with painted black pate under original human hair wig, small black glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, pink kid leather body with shapely torso and shaped limbs, stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1840. Value Points: the early poupee is wonderfully preserved, original finish and wig, wearing original early folklore costume of the Valencian region of Spain including embroidered shawl and apron, gilt headdress, and very elaborate jewelry with faux-emeralds and pearls.
