Description
24" (61 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, heavily-modeled eyelids, brushstroked and feathered brows, shaded nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with shaded lips, pierced ears, auburn mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists, nicely costumed in antique fabrics in the French style, beautiful antique bonnet. Condition: generally excellent, original body and body finish. Marks: 11 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1884, from original commissioned sculptural design by noted Parisian sculptor Carrier-Belleuse. Value Points: well-defined eager yet shy expression, very fine complexion and painting.
