12" (30 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head, bald pate with shadowed growth, sculpted curls over each ear and an unusual horizontal curl on the forehead, large enamel eyes, ruddy complexion, tinted beard stubble, mouth modeled wide open with teeth and tongue, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted wrinkled leggings, black shoes with red buckles, costumed. Very good condition, costume frail. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, rare forelock curl, large eyes, and unusual mouth create a distinctive character expression.
