Description
13" x 20" suitcase (33 x 51 cm), 36" overall seated (91 cm). A paper mache man with bald pate, modeled grey mustache, glass eyes, painted features to portray a somewhat scruffy gent, is posed in seated position upon his suitcase, wearing cotton shirt and trousers, old felt cap, paper mache black shoes. When plugged, the promotional figure turns his head from side to side, moves arms up and down as though showing the wares he wishes to sell. Excellent condition. Attributed to Descamps, circa 1925.
