Description

15" (38 cm). Poured wax shoulder head with amber tinted complexion, blue glass inset eyes, defined brows and lashes, closed mouth with accented lips,blonde mohair rooted hair, muslin stitch- jointed body with wax arms to above the elbows, wax lower legs and bare feet. Condition: generally excellent, complexion a bit darkened. Marks: Hamley's of Regent Street... (body stamp). Comments: from the London doll boutique, circa 1890. Value Points: the doll wears her original elaborate costume from the ballet "The Doll Fairy" making its worldwide appearance about 1890. The story of the doll is told in Cieslik's "German Doll Studies", pages 36¤40.
