A paper-covered wooden box hinges open in an elaborate manner to reveal four interior tiers (seven compartments) centered by a pair of 10" bisque bebes depicting a turn-of-the-century French boy and girl, each with glass sleep eyes, open mouth, mohair wig, five piece composition body with painted shoes and socks, original white wool costumes, signed "dep". Within the six remaining compartments are arranged, originally tied, a treasury of miniature toys, ephemera, and fashion accessories, all scaled to the dolls, including curling iron, foot warmer, fancy hair combs, powder puff, pocket watch, brooch with photograph, milk glass bottle, jewelry, soaps, perfume atomizer, water carafe, sachet, mirror, fan, wooden trumpet, school slate, book bags, counting board, schoolbooks, ledgers, pencil box, baby rattles, little bisque doll, wooden doll and animals and more. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: luxury presentation created for prestigious French doll shops such as Au Nain Bleu, circa 1900.
