Description
10" x 9" box (25 x 23 cm), 8" man (20 cm). A wooden box with slide lid has original lithographed lid with illustration of the toys contained within and label "Une Partie d'Anes a Robinson"; viz. wooden flat-dimensional double- sided man and woman with lithographed costumes and articulation at shoulders, elbows, waist, hips and knees, allowing them to pose on the articulated donkeys that are also included. Wooden ridged balancing platforms are included too. French, circa 1875,the toy is similar to those created by American Charles Crandall at that same time. A rare and well preserved early wooden toy.
