Description

17" (43 cm). All-wooden doll with ovoid-shaped head on very elongated throat, black enamel inset eyes, heavily modeled eyelids, fringed brows and lashes, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, hand-tied human hair wig, well-defined carved bosom, elongated wooden torso that extends to below the knees with arch cut-out for placement of eight wooden legs that protrude from a center axis in wheel-like fashion, wooden arms with dowel-jointing at shoulders and elbows. Condition: very good, arms repaired at joints. Comments: late 18th,early 19th century doll, the doll's gown would cover the leg construction, so when moved along it would appear as though the doll was walking. Value Points: very rare doll with original construction, beautifully carved face with artistic painting.
