Description

10" (25 cm) seated. Seated upon a green velvet covered cushion with ornamental rope detailing and wooden footed platform is a little bisque headed doll with large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, carton torso and legs in seated pose, bisque forearms; when wound, music plays and the little girl turns her head and alternately powders her nose and gazes into ormolu miniature hand- mirror. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism and music function. Marks: E 2/0. Comments: attributed to Roullet et Decamps, with bisque head by Jumeau, circa 1890. Value Points: rare automaton model in appealing pose, with original velvet cushion, original rose silk costume and hat with garlands of rose silk ribbons.
