Bisque socket head with flattened solid dome and plump facial and throat modeling, small blue glass inset eyes with darker blue outer rims and pronounced pupils, dark outlined eye sockets, delicately painted lashes and brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, brunette mohair wig, early Sonneberg composition and wooden body with eight-loose- ball-joints, tiny ankles on plump legs, defined fingers and toes, antique costume including muslin pinafore with stenciled kitten design. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 504 (last number may not be 4,incised high at back of head). Comments: the doll may be from the mystery series of dolls sometimes also marked TR, but certainly Sonneberg, circa 1880. Value Points: very rare early closed mouth doll with wonderful expression and bisque, original body and costume.
