17 1/2" (44 cm). Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, grey glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, all-wooden body with elaborate articulation based upon patent designs of Benoit Louis Martin allowing extremely flexibility of all joints particularly the hips so that the doll could easily sit. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 3 (head) Bte SGDG La Poupee Phenix Marque Depose (bronze label on front torso). Comments: Benoit Louis Martin, from his deposed model of 1863 that he named "Phenix". Value Points: extremely rare poupee whose uniquely articulated body allows unlimited flexibility especially at shoulders and hips, with rare label.
