A wooden platform with blue velvet cover supports a bisque-headed doll seated on a white pedestal, with blue glass eyes, mohair lashes, painted lower lashes, brush stroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, open mouth, accented lips, four porcelain teeth, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig, aqua silk dress. A little mouse is at her feet, along with a basket of yarns, and she holds needlework in her hands. When wound, music plays, she turns her head from side to side while her hands busily stitch the fabric, and periodically the mouse leaps forward toward the basket of yarn. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Tete Jumeau (red stamp on doll) (illegible original paper label at base). Comments: French, circa 1900. Value Points: amusing and complicated automaton functions well, is rare to find.
