19th Century All-Wooden Doll

One piece carved wooden head and torso with egg-shaped head, elongated throat, brown painted pate, painted over gesso finish with deeply set gray/green painted eyes, defined lashes and brows, blushed cheeks, painted lips, carved ears, sculpted bosom, body shaped to wear costumes of 1830 era, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, painted red flat shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: early 19th century, probably German or Austrian. Value Points: highly characterized facial features and well defined body shape on the wonderfully preserved early doll.
