7" (18 cm). A small bisque-headed doll with large blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with pert smile, blonde mohair wig, wooden torso, wire upper arms and legs, wooden lower legs, bisque hands, is standing upon a wooden box with richly engraved drawing of seaside building and brass ormolu feet. The little man wears silk Marquis style costume and holds a wooden violin. When wound by porcelain handle, the Marquis turns head from side to side, taps his foot, fiddles, and music plays. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 0. Comments: French, circa 1885. Value Points: beautiful toy with appealing size, activity and luxury quality of music box is wonderfully preserved.
