17" (43 cm). Ebony black pressed bisque swivel head on matching kid-edged bisque shoulder plate with defined throat hollow, highly characterized facial features with uniquely sculpted nose, brown glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner and lashes, black brush stroked brows, open mouth with lightly tinted lips, row of tiny bottom teeth, pierced ears, black kid poupee body with shapely waist, gusset-jointing, stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: attributed to Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1875,an identical model with lighter complexion but nearly identical jewelry and headdress is shown in The Bru Book by Theimer/Theriault. Value Points: extremely rare poupee with superb detail of sculpting and magnificent complexion, original body, original headdress and elaborate jewelry.
