Description
16" overall with stand (40 cm). Mounted on a wooden stand, the stick-handled paper mache jester toy has highly characterized features, reddened complexion with painted eyes and grinning expression, teeth, applied cap from which is peeking a paper mache child with painted hair and facial features, wooden block torso and lower limbs, original muslin body. Condition: good, characteristic crazing, stand is not original. Comments: Germany, circa 1875. Value Points: amusing early novelty toy is rare to find, has original costumes.
