Description
11" (28 cm). Thick wax poured shoulder head, blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted upper lashes, single stroke brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth, blonde mohair wig, softly- stuffed kid body with center seam at front and back torso, and stitch-jointing at hips, knees and shoulders, wax arms from above the elbows. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: C.L. Petson Berlin (oval stamp on torso). Comments: circa 1880,a similarly marked doll has been found with bisque head and arms and identical unusually styled kid torso. Value Points: rare early doll in wonderfully preserved condition, signed body, original wig, original sheer muslin gown, matching undergarments, boots.
