Description
27"h. x 17"w (68 x 43 cm). The wooden framed chaise a porteur or sedan chair is richly gilt painted with elaborate gilded gesso ornamentation in the late 18th century style, with three scenes of cherubic children at play, and a painted garland of roses at the domed top. There are windows on three sides and an opening front door; the interior has original padded silk upholstery. A superb doll-sized version of the luxury 19th century accessory, rarely found in this size, with luxury detail of decoration indicating its original presentation in Parisian shop such as Au Paradis des Enfants. Excellent condition. French, circa 1880.
