Paper mache shoulder head with painted-over-gesso complexion, head inclined sideways and upward with very plump cheeks and jowls, painted brown eyes, eyeliner, pierced nostrils, closed mouth, blushed cheeks and chin, mohair wig in periwig style, and-carved wooden fully-articulated body, antique costume of rust velvet with silk brocade vest and lace jabot, painted black shoes. Condition: generally excellent, nose tip rub, fingers repaired. Comments: mid-19th century, illegible marks on front torso. Value Points: unusual early doll with wooden articulated body and very expressive features.
