Description
13" (33 cm). Seated upon a velvet-covered stool
with ebony feet is a bisque-headed doll with
large brown glass enamel inset eyes, painted
lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye
corners, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced
ears, brunette mohair wig, carton moule torso and
legs, wire upper arms, metal hands. When wound,
the boy turns his head from side to side, nods
and plays the violin while music plays.
Condition: generally excellent, mechanism
functions well, original costume a bit dusty.
Comments: attributed to Vichy, circa 1865. Value
Points: beautifully costumed in silk and metallic
fringe as young Count, with matching tricorn hat,
well detailed wooden violin, fine bisque and
painting, well functioning luxury toy.
