Description
14" (35 cm). Bisque socket-head, brown glass
enamel inset eyes in deeply-set hollowed eye
sockets, tiny pointy nose with accented nostrils,
closed mouth with center accent line, mohair wig,
French composition and wooden fully-jointed body.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SFBJ Paris
(incised) Poulbot (incised signature). Comments:
SFBJ, circa 1915, the doll was designed by famous
Parisian illustrator Poulbot, and produced for
one or two years only; the model was based upon
his drawings of street urchins of Montmartre.
Value Points: rare doll with artist signature,
most appealing and distinctive expression,
excellent bisque.
