Description
16" (40 cm). Bisque socket-head with rounded
facial modeling, blue glass sleep eyes that
operate from lever mechanism at back of head,
painted lashes, rose blushed eyeshadow,
brushstroked and feathered brows, accented
nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with
center accent line, pierced ears, blonde mohair
wig over Steiner pate, French composition fully
jointed body, nicely costumed in antique rose
silk and green velvet suit and cap. Condition:
generally excellent, paint skip at lower left eye
is original. Marks: Sie C 1 (incised) Steiner Bte
SGDG Bourgouin (ink script). Comments: Steiner,
circa 1885. Value Points: wonderfully featured
and appealing little Steiner bebe with shy
expression, rarer lever eyes that operate
perfectly, original body and body finish
