Description
8" (20 cm). Wax-over-paper mache shoulderhead,
blue glass sleep eyes, accented eye corners and
nostrils, tinted brows, open mouth, two tiny
upper teeth and two tiny lower teeth, blonde
mohair wig, twill midriff over bellows crier (not
working), twill upper arms and legs, wooden lower
torso, arms and legs, jointed wrists and ankles.
Condition: generally excellent. Comments:
Sonneberg, the taufling baby was based on the
Japanese Ichimatsu doll first introduced to
Western society in 1855. Value Points: fine
original condition of the appealing early baby
