Description
8 1/2" (22 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head with sculpted brown hair drawn into chignon at back head and tied with blue hair ribbon, tiny enamel eyes, hint of smile, modeled bosom, tow-wrapped posable armature body, wooden lower arms and legs, painted dark blue stockings and black shoes, original folklore costume. Posed on woolen carpet with soutache thread embroidery, along with two rush-seat wooden chairs, basket of silk flowers and wooden box with resting rooster posed on top. Excellent condition except some frailty to silk of costume. Neapolitan, mid-1700s.
