Description
Each 9" seated (23 cm). Each is one-piece seated
figure of baby with sculpted brown hair, painted
facial features, one with smiling face and
painted teeth holding a silver rattle, one crying
with fretful expression and modeled tear holding
a broken rattle. Each has modeled baby smock with
decorative ruffles and flowers, expressively
posed hands and feet. Professional repairs on
limbs and one rattle handle. Germany, circa 1900,
attributed to Hertwig. A superb rare large pair
of babies in contrasting poses.
