Description
15" (38 cm). Hand-pressed bisque shoulderhead of
young girl with blonde sculpted hair captured
under a pink-lined white bonnet with pink bow at
the throat, brown glass inset eyes, painted
lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils,
closed mouth, muslin body, bisque lower limbs,
painted shoes and socks, taffeta lavender gown
with lace edging. Condition: generally excellent.
Marks: M.D. Thompson '53. Comments: NIADA artist,
Martha Thompson's portrait of Victorian girl in
bonnet, circa 1953. Value Points: rare work by
the renowned American artist is perfectly
preserved.
