16" (40 cm). Pale bisque socket-head with flattened solid dome, high forehead, almond- shaped grey glass inset eyes with very thick black eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, blonde mohair wig, Sonneberg composition and wooden eight-loose-ball- jointed body with straight wrists, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: attributed to Ernst Grossman, who registered the first ball-jointed German body in 1880 based upon similarly styled French bodies. Value Points: exquisite face and painting on the early rare German doll, choice bisque, rare body with original finish.
