Description
19" (48 cm). Bisque socket head, large brown
glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner,
lushly painted lashes, rose blushed eyeshadow,
brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, accented
eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with
richly shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears,
brunette mohair wig, French composition and
wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally
excellent. Marks: R. 1 D. Comments: Rabery and
Delphieu, circa 1888. Value Points: beautiful
bisque, original body and body finish, the
perfectly preserved bebe wears her original and
elaborate costume of Finistiere region of
Brittany including rare jewelry with maker's
mark, unusual wooden heeled shoes and elaborate
two-layered coiffe. The doll was featured in the
book "French Dolls in Folklore Costume" by
Florence Theriault.
