Description
22"H (56 cm) overall. 12"H doll (30 cm). A fine wooden-framed clock with embossed designs of lyre on the frame and porcelain face, supports a scene of a woman with harp standing aside a paper mache garden. The woman has bisque head, grey glass eyes, painted lashes and brows, closed mouth, blonde mohair wig, pierced ears, carton moule torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism and music function well, woman's costume is not original. Comments: attributed to Vichy, circa 1865, music is activated by pull-string, mechanism has key and lever release. Value Points: the elaborate musical mechanism is luxury quality, plays three tunes, the harp and clock have rich original gold leaf finish.
