12" (30 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead turned sideways, sculpted brown hair waved loosely from face into a long narrow braid which is loosely coiled at the back of head, tiny curls at the forehead, enamel eyes in deeply set eye sockets, mouth modeled closed with row of dainty teeth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings and brown shoes, wearing original silk folklore costume with intricate detail, and carrying woven basket with terra cotta foodstuffs. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, very expressive facial model with beautiful sculpted hair, fine costume.
