Description
12" (30 cm). Solid domed bisque head with painted
boyish hair, intaglio blue eyes glancing to the
right, large white eyedots, black and red upper
eyeliner, one stroke brows, accented nostrils and
eye corners, closed mouth with tiny hole in the
center and lips puckered as though about to
whistle. Muslin body with torso bellows
for "whistling", bisque forearms, nicely costumed
in white shirt, knickers, brown cap, ankle boots.
Condition: generally excellent, whistling bellows
non-operable, bisque hands not original. Marks:
Heubach (in square) 87 14 Germany. Comments:
Gebruder Heubach, circa 1915, the doll was
marketed as "Whistling Jim". Value Points: rarer
model with wonderfully sculpted amusing features,
choice bisque.
