Description
The heavy cast iron stove was intended as
diminutive parlor stove or for summer use; it has
been also found in use in 19th century childrens
play houses. The side and back panels are
decorated with urn and foliage designs, and the
armoire-styled front has double-sliding doors
with porcelain knobs that open to a large
receptacle area. There is a grill with lifter at
the base, and the ornamental grillwork top
removes to reveal two cooking lids. The stove is
decorated with a fancy finial and fancy front
legs. American, circa 1885. 17"H. 17"W. 14"D.
