Description
For slim-bodied fashion doll about 15". The nine-
piece ensemble includes petticoat with draw-
string waist and very extended train decorated
with a double band of hem ruffles having
variation of construction but identical lace;
sleeveless bed jacket with overlapping flaps at
the front and extravagant inset lace; sacque with
V-shaped lace insets at yoke centering a button-
front placket and long sleeves with unusual
diagonally-set lace inserts; sacque with multi-
vertical bands of narrow tucking and lace
inserts, pearl-button front with hand-made
buttonholes; chemise with unusual side-bodice
hidden buttons and large V-shaped yoke with wide
ruffled edging that matches wide ruffled cuffs;
man-style shirt with double-layer yoke, set-in
cuffs, gathered yoke at back; two pairs of
pantalets with button front and drawstring
ankles; and a lace-edged nightcap embroidered MM.
The clothing is in pristine never-used condition
with crisp original muslin fabric finish, and
extraordinary detail of tiny and meticulous hand-
stitching and trim. Circa 1870.
