Description
15" (38 cm). The pale pressed bisque poupee with
refined expression has bisque swivel head on kid-
edged bisque shoulder plate, dark blue glass
enamel inset eyes, short painted lashes and
lightly feathered brows, accented eye corners and
nostrils, dark eyeliner on upper rim of eyes
only, closed mouth with accent line between the
lips, ears pierced into the head, brunette hand-
tied human hair wig over cork pate. The doll has
stretched-kid-over-wooden body with dowel-
articulation at shoulders, elbows, hips and
knees, and bisque lower arms and hands of plump
shape with well-defined palms, knuckles and
nails. Her costume is an exquisite and probably
original-to-the-doll narrow-ribbed white pique
gown with princess-shape, pagoda sleeves and
double-box pleated back, undergarments, shoes,
stockings, lace and wax-flower trimmed bonnet.
The doll is unmarked. Circa 1870.
