Description
16" (40 cm). A beautiful early lady with pale
pressed bisque head with very plump
modeling, flat cut neck rim that attaches to
matching shoulder plate with unique system
patented by Huret in 1861, allowing the head
to turn, humanlike, only from side to side,
rather than unrealistic 360-degree swivel. The
doll has narrow cobalt blue glass inset eyes,
dark eyeliner, lightly painted lashes on
modeled eyelids, feathered brows, accented
nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with
outlined lips, blonde mohair wig over cork
pate, kid fashion body with gusset jointing at
shoulders, hips and knees. The doll wears
fine antique costume comprising teal blue
taffeta skirt, black velvet jacket with frog
closures, black leather shoes, straw bonnet
with velvet and blue silk ribbon trim, feather
muff, undergarments. Marked _B. 4 S._ on back
of shoulderplate. Attributed to Blampoix, circa
1862.
