Description
17" (43 cm). Having pressed bisque shoulderhead with very rounded facial modeling and defined chin, painted blue eyes in sculpted heavily-lidded eye sockets, the eyes of a richly shaded blue with glazed detail at pupils and lower irises, thick black upper eyeliner, thin black lower eyeliner, painted lashes, lightly feathered brows, pointy shaped nose with nostril accents, sculpted philtrum, closed mouth modeled as though open with outlined lips and two rows of painted tiny teeth, sculpted unpierced ears, and blonde lambswool wig over cork pate. The doll has its original gutta percha body based upon Huret patent drawings with dowel jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, curled fingers, and kid collarette. She wears her original costume of black taffeta with black bead trim, white batiste blouse, black velvet and lace cap, undergarments, stockings, heeled slippers signed C.C. There is some typical repair to the gutta percha body although overall very sturdy. The bisque has extraordinary sculpting detail and painting. The doll is preserved in her original wooden box. The kid collarette is stamped with the Huret signature. Adelaide Calixte Huret, circa 1855. The modeled teeth version of the Huret poupee is extremely rare; this is believed to be the only existing example. The poupee has been a blue ribbon award winner and was featured on the cover of Doll News of UFDC in Spring 1997.
