Description
20" (51 cm). The serene faced woman has an oval- shaped paper mache shoulder head with black painted solid-domed pate, elongated throat, high forehead, black glass enamel inset eyes, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, early blonde mohair wig. The French body is of (faded) rose kid with shapely torso and one piece shaped legs and arms, stitched and separated fingers. She wears a cream cotton fashion gown, undergarments, stockings, shoes, green silk bonnet and carries woven lidded basket. Circa 1850. In the style of doll heads made by the firm of Andreas Voit of Hildsburghausen, Germany for the French market.
