Description
33" (84 cm). Regally posed porcelain shoulder
head with strongly sculpted features including
definition of temples, chin and cheek bones,
modeled bosom and throat hollow, and aquiline
nose. Her dark brown-into-black sculpted hair has
a widow_s peak at center forehead, detailed
stippling of fine hairs around forehead edges,
hair waved loosely back into coiled braid at back
of head that is interwoven with blue ribbons,
curls tumble onto the nape of neck. The doll has
dark blue eyes, red and black upper eyeliner,
single stroke brows, accent dots at eye corners
and nostrils, closed mouth with defined space
between the lips, and six sew holes. The old
muslin stitch-jointed body has newer porcelain
arms and legs, and the doll wears an antique silk
plaid gown and undergarments. There is an
original tiny firing line at back center sew
hole. Attributed to Schlaggenwald, circa 1860.
