shoulderhead lady has heart-shaped face with
elongated throat and softly sloping shoulders,
sculpted hair in shaded blonde-to-brunette color
with widows-peak, center-part, arranged curls at
sides of head, and modeled and painted snood
capturing the hair at the back of the head. A
rose coronet crowns the top of the head and there
are two gold bows at each side. The doll has pale
blue upper glancing eyes, red and black upper
eyeliner, single stroke brown brows, closed mouth
with center accent line, blushed cheeks, and an
early hand-sewn muslin body with stitch-jointing
at shoulders and hips. She wears an early muslin
gown with black tulle trim and undergarments.

circa 1870. From the Collection of Mildred
Seeley.
