Description
Of crisp bronze green silk taffeta with narrow
windowpane design, the gown features a
low-necked fitted bodice, very full puffy
sleeves, and a box-pleated skirt. The gown is
trimmed with a gilt-edged black silk ribbon
that borders the neckline, sleeves and skirt,
and is trimmed with tiny multi-colored silk
passamenterie. The dress has hook and
thread closures at the back and is fully lined. A
lace-trimmed chemisette is included for
modesty. Also included is a maroon velvet
bonnet with wide brim, black velvet edging at
the brim and forming the band with generous
black feather rim. The under-brim is black
velvet trimmed with a half-veil of black lace
and two plaid silk rosettes. The bonnet is
lined with black silk. Appropriately sized for
16"_17" Huret style poupee. Circa 1860.
