Description
25" (63 cm). Of pink-tinted, hand-pressed thick paste porcelain, the doll portrays an adult lady with slender oval-shaped face inclined forward, elongated throat, sculpted hair in rare sienna brown color with shading detail, center-part with individually sculpted short finger-curls around the sides and back of head, sculpted detail of eye sockets with defined eyelids, black and red upper eyeliner, ombre eye shadow, feathered brown brows, aquiline nose, closed mouth with centerline between the lips, accent dimples at lip corners and philtrum, blushed cheeks. The doll has an old muslin stitch-jointed body and porcelain arms. The doll wears an early cotton plaid dress, undergarments, leather boots. Unsigned, but probably from the porcelain works of Royal Copenhagen, circa 1850. The doll is of exceptionally large size and quality with very rare hair color.
