Ivory Silk Two Piece Party Gown

Of exquisite delicate yet crisp ivory silk, the party gown features a rounded neckline framed by an ivory silk ruffle, unusual sleeves that begin as fitted at the shoulders and then shape into short puffs with ruffled edges; an interior lining supports the puffed shape. The bodice is fitted and then flares into a widely flared overskirt that covers the top of the separate skirt. The skirt has narrow pleats at the front and cartridge pleating at the back. The bodice is decorated with blue silk covered buttons and bows, and the skirt front is decorated with cross-hatch banding of the same silk punctuated by blue silk rosettes. The entire gown is lined with a very light-weight muslin. Included is a matching jester-shaped party hat with upturned sides and blue silk bows; the hat has interior stiffening to hold its shape. The dress is unsigned, however its imaginative style and refined construction indicate its couturier origin. Appropriately sized for 16"_17" Huret style poupee.
