The swivel headed lady doll has pressed bisque head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, almond shaped cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, ears pierced into head, and original brunette mohair wig in elaborate coiffure with interwoven ribbons. The body is shapely modeled kid with tiny waist and derriere, kid over wooden upper arms with dowel jointing at shoulders and elbows, bisque forearms with separately sculpted fingers and well-defined knuckles and nails, kid over wooden upper legs and dowel-jointed lower legs. The lady wears her original couturier costume of maroon wool with velvet and silk pleated inserts, elaborate bustle, lace detailing, undergarments, leather boots. Marked '3' on head and shoulder plate. Circa 1870.
