Description
2 1/ 4" x 1 3/ 4" (5 x 4 cm). A firm-back red
leather miniature photograph album with gold leaf
edging and ormulu trim (clasp missing) contains
ten miniature photographs inside; three of the
photographs are of antique dolls and others are
of historic figures (two presumably Napoleon III
and Empress Eugenie). Circa 1867, the album was
probably prepared as a promotional object for the
1867 Exposition Universelle in Paris. A similar
miniature book labeled Album de La Poupee was
sold by the Parisian doll boutique Au Paradis des
Enfants at that time.
