Description
29" (74 cm). The superbly sculpted bisque lady
has hand-pressed swivel head on kid-edged bisque
shoulder plate, oval shaped face with elongated
throat, blue glass inset eyes with modeled upper
eyelids, thick black eyeliner, painted dark
lashes, arched multi-feathered brows, mauve
blushed eye shadow, accented nostrils and eye
corners, closed mouth with superbly detailed
shaded and outlined lips, sculpted philtrum and
lip corners, separately applied pierced ears, and
original hand-tied brunette human hair over cork
pate. The kid fashion body is shapely, with
defined waist and derriere, gusset jointing at
elbows, hips and knees, with stitched and
separated fingers and toes. The doll wears
antique costume comprising laced blue velvet vest
over white blouse, changeable-color taffeta silk
skirt with blue silk ribbons dotted with black
velvet, undergarments, leather shoes, black
velvet bonnet with lace trim. The doll is
attributed to Pierre-Francois Jumeau, circa 1867,
the extremely rare and exquisite portrait face
may be one of the twenty unique models he
proposed to exhibit at the 1867 Exposition
Universelle in Paris.
