Description
Known as sac du voyage in France, or carpet bag
in America, the traveling valise was a classic
style of the 1860 era, having leatherlike-over-
wooden framed base with tan leather straps
decorated with brass studs and hinge that allows
the base to be opened separately from the woven
striped tapestry top. The valise has brass clasp
and twisted leather handles. 3"L. Circa 1870.
