Suitable for costuming about 15" plump-bodied
poupee of the 1865 era. The ensemble of costumes
have been preserved in an original wooden box
labeled "vetements de poupee". Included are the
following: Scottish plaid silk faille gown with
black velvet and green fringe trim, and matching
green and black velvet bonnet; Black silk/woolen
skirt and short jacket with rich fuschia trim and
buttons; Splendid rose silk taffeta party gown
with matching dye lace and trim, appliqud silk
lilies and rose buds, detachable sash with
streamers; Blue silk taffeta gown with blue glad
hem ruffle; Flannel woolen coat with cape collar,
red woolen scalloped edge trim; Black velvet
evening skirt and matching long-length jacket
with bead trim; Extraordinary lace evening jacket
along with matching black velvet cap trimmed with
matching tulle and Alencon lace, silk streamers;
Shawl of black tulle with interwoven gilded
raffia and gold and black fringe; Two mob caps,
one of tulle with handmade rick-rack edging; Red
silk snood with pleated silk edging; Black straw
bonnet with turquoise feathers; Black velvet
bonnet, along with black velvet sash; Three pairs
of shoes including wooden shoes labeled Vichy,
one purse; Two petticoats, one hoop, and one
chemisette with sous-sleeves; Although none of
the costumes are signed, several are clearly of
couturier quality and are preserved in remarkable
unplayed with condition. Circa 1865.
