Description
26" (66 cm). Thick paste porcelain shoulder head
doll portraying a plump-faced lady with stout
neck. The doll has blonde sculpted hair in center
part drawn loosely away from face with tightly
braided details disguising the ears and long page
boy curls that are enclosed with a modeled and
painted black snood. The snood is edged with a
modeled blue ruffle at the crown and ruffled
bavolet onto the shoulders. The doll has blue
painted eyes, red and black upper eyeliner,
single stroke brows, circle-accented nostrils,
closed mouth with center accent line. The muslin
stitch-jointed body has porcelain arms and the
doll wears blue cotton costume. The doll is
marked _111._ Circa 1870. From the Collection of
