Description
31" (79 cm). Pressed bisque swivel head on
bisque shoulderplate with modeled bosom
and shoulderblades, large brown glass
enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, dark
eyeliner encircles the eyecut, painted lashes,
incised eyeliner, brushstroked and
multi-feathered brows, accented eye corners,
shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined
tongue tip between the shaded and outlined
lips, pierced ears, original kid body with
gusset jointing at hips and knees, curved
upper kid arms, bisque lower arms with
separately sculpted fingers. Condition:
generally excellent, left thumb re-glued at
joint.
Marks: Bru Jne 12 (head) Bru Jne (right
shoulder) No. 10 (left shoulder). Comments:
Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1882, one of the
earliest Bru Jne bebes with original early body
model. Value Points: exceptional quality of
modeling on the large Bru bebe enhanced by
superb bisque and painting of features,
antique silk dress and bonnet,
undergarments, shoes and socks.
